Today’s (Feb 20) edition of INSIDE NOVA is reporting that there is a proposal in the Democratic Party dominated County Board of Supervisors to raise your county tax by 5.6%.
“Coles Supervisor Yesli Vega (R),… reiterated her desire to lower the real estate and personal property tax rates, while also opposing the meals tax and advocating for an increased data center rate.”
“[Republican Supervisor] Gordy noted county schools are currently projecting declining enrollment, suggesting the board take a closer look at taxpayer revenue directed toward the school division.”
‘Board Chair At-Large Deshundra Jefferson, a Democrat, countered, mentioning an increasing need for special education and English language learner programs and adding county schools have been “underfunded for so long.”
