The Democratic Incumbent Commonwealth Attorney for Prince William County, Amy Ashworth said “I’m not responsible for the crime rate, and I can’t change the crime rate.” When asked who can control the crime rate she responded, “no comment.”
Matt Lowery, the Republican Candidate for Commonwealth Attorney for Prince William County said at the same debate, “People have become unafraid of the criminal justice system. Police are disrespected. Criminals talk and crime runs wild.” He added, “We need to immediately re-partner the commonwealth’s attorney’s office with the police agencies… Stop treating the cops like they’re bad guys.”
