OFFICIAL CALL Legislative District Party Canvass of the 20TH HOUSE DISTRICT of Virginia – Grace E Metz Middle School, Wellington Road, Manassas VA

As Chair of the Twentieth House District Committee of the Republican Party, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Sharon E Ashurst, do hereby issue this call for a Legislative District Party Canvass to be held at Grace E Metz Middle School, Wellington Road, Manassas VA 20119, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time on Saturday, June 17, 2023, for the purpose of nominating a candidate for the office of DELEGATE to be voted for in the General Election on November 7, 2023.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of the 20th House District under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
Filing Requirements
Candidates for the Republican nomination for DELEGATE to HOUSE DISTRICT 20, at said canvass shall file a written statement and a non-refundable filing fee of $500 payable to the Manassas City Republican Committee by mail or in person, to Sharon E Ashurst, 8665 Sudley Road #224, Manassas VA 20110, which must be received no later than Friday, June 9, at 5 p.m. local time (contact Sharon Ashurst at chairmanassasGOP@gmail.com to make arrangements for in-person filings). If only one candidate properly files, then said candidate shall be declared the Republican nominee and no canvass will be held.
Registration Fee
There will be no registration fee to participate in the canvass.
