There are two ways to serve: become an Officer of Elections, or serve as a Republican Poll Watcher.
Virginia law calls for equal representation from each major party among Officers of Election at every polling place, so we need committed Republicans in these roles. If you can’t commit to a full day, a Poll Watcher shift is the best way to help. Officers of Election may also volunteer as Republican Poll Watchers when they are not scheduled to serve as Officers of Election.

How To Apply:
Step one: Tell us you’re interested
Everyone starts here by completing this form, whichever role you choose. This is how we reach you about assignments and, for Officers of Election, how we are alerted to recommend you to the Electoral Board as a Republican officer.
Complete the VFE Poll Watcher training (Part A and Part B, about two hours total). Registration for live online sessions is now open. Parts A and B run weekly on a rotating basis.
Virginia Fair Elections (VFE) offers live, online EO/PW Training: Parts A & B for Election Observers/Poll Watchers, along with weekly Specialty Training sessions. EO/PW Training is held Mondays at 6:30 p.m., with Parts A and B alternating weekly. Specialty training is held Thurdays at 6:30 p.m., and topics vary weekly.
Completion of both EO/PW Training parts is required, preferably through the live sessions. One registration covers all dates; attend the sessions you choose.
Once trained, we’ll be in touch about shift assignments.
