Lame Duck Democrat County Board Votes to Continue Data Center Expansion (A Message from Jeanine Lawson)

GAINESVILLE, VA – Today, Supervisor Jeanine Lawson, candidate for Chair At-Large of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors led a resolution to institute a lame-duck policy to prevent controversial land use votes until the new board of 2024 is seated in January. To ensure public trust and accountability in local government, Lawson called on members of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors to support the resolution’s passage.

Mrs. Lawson shared the following statement:

“Ignoring hundreds of residents who spoke out in bi-partisan support of this resolution both in person and in writing, the Democrat board majority voted no.

This board is sending a message, loud and clear, they are more concerned with playing political games than letting voters hold them accountable.

While I am deeply disappointed in my colleagues to do as they were elected to do and listen to the people of Prince William County, I will continue to fight against over development and protect PWC.

We are not done. The voice of PWC is not going away. We will not sink into the darkness. As your next chair I will protect Prince William residents, ensure their trust in our elected officials, and allow them to hold our Board accountable.”
