As the chairman of the Prince William County/Manassas Park Republican Committee, and on behalf of the members of the Committee, I want to heartily congratulate Jeannie LaCroix, the victorious Republican Candidate for the Woodbridge Magisterial District in the Special Election. I want to thank the members of my Committee and my fellow Republicans for their work, and also thank the voters of the Woodbridge District who recognized that Jeannie LaCroix was obviously the best choice for Woodbridge and the County. She joins Tom Gordy and Yesli Vega on the County Board as the voices of Republican common sense, fiscal discipline, and support for the people of Prince William.
We applaud Jeannie’s courage, running in a district that has not elected a Republican in over 20 years. She cheerfully stepped into the arena, and showed us how to beat the odds. This is a reminder to my fellow Republicans, county, state, and national, that the only race you are guaranteed to lose is one that you don’t enter.
As the Republicans of Prince William, and the State of Virginia, take a moment to enjoy this triumph, we cannot forget the next challenge. The Democrat Governor and legislature are determined to gerrymander the State of Virginia, in a manner that would make the Democrats of Illinois, the gerrymander kings, blush. Early voting has already begun on the gerrymander referendum. If passed, this referendum would divide Prince William County into five different Federal Congressional Districts. Every time a resident of Prince William took a walk, they would cross two or three Congressional Districts. The odds are against us in this battle too. But if we organize, if we work together, IF WE FIGHT, we can follow Jeannie’s example and win.
