The Prince William County Republican Committee (PWCRC) strongly condemned recent antisemitic incidents at Prince William schools at the May meeting of its executive body. We join with County Supervisor Yesli Vega in her statement expressing unwavering support for our Jewish community, and firmly rejecting any form of hatred in Prince William County.
This condemnation follows press and other reports that three Prince William schools were vandalized with swastikas and vulgar language. The Prince William County Human Rights Commission is aware of these incidents, and has condemned other recent antisemitic incidents in the county. Unfortunately, antisemitic incidents are on the rise in Prince William, more than doubling in recent years and accounting for half or more of reported hate crimes.
We call on the Prince William community to join us in this condemnation and to take steps to reduce antisemitism and other forms of hatred. We applaud the efforts that Governor Youngkin has already taken to combat this scourge at the state level. These include signing a 2022 executive order “Establishing the Commission to Combat Antisemitism,” and issuing an October 2023 emergency directive to combat anti-religious and ethnic based bigotry across the Commonwealth in response to the rise in antisemitic incidents following the October 7th attacks against Israel.
