The Prince William County Republican Committee joins Governor Youngkin and all other patriotic Americans in condemning the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. This was not just an assassination attempt on a man, a political candidate, this was an attack against our country, our constitution, and the rule of law.
While we are grateful to God that President Trump is doing well, let us not forget that fire chief Corey Comperatore lost his life as a result of this abominable attack, which wounded several other victims. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Comperatore, and pray for a quick recovery for those wounded.
Words matter. We love the First Amendment, but it comes with responsibility, including being careful with incendiary language that implies violence is an acceptable choice to settle political differences.
